Bushy Tails from Perdeberg – Issue Six

prudence_episode_6The 20th of March 2016 saw the official start of autumn which means we are now even closer to Winter, our rainy season here in the fairest Cape, and I am crossing all my branches and stems in hope that we have a very rainy Winter, we all know how much I need it.

June is my pruning month; I am looking forward to a nice neat trim, just in time to prepare for the fruitfulness and growth for the next season… been struggling with these spilt ends for too long now.

A fact for you… In 2015 the vineyards carried on average 2kg grapes per vine and this year, 0.83kg grapes per vine, but the quality is exceptional. I wouldn’t expect anything less, even through the hard times I produce wines of excellence.

There has been such a hustle and bustle at the winery the last few weeks, all in preparation of some very exciting events and tastings during April.

The first one coming up has left my dear friend Priscilla, (she is in charge of the fruits that bring you Perdeberg’s famous, velvety Pinotage), in such an excited state because she is going to be in the spot light at the Pinotage and Biltong Festival happening in Stellenbosch on the 16th and 17th of April – that girl loves being centre stage. She has been fluffing her leaves and batting her stems since she got wind of the fact that she was going to be there and knowing that she will have fans flocking to her.

While she is doing her thing, Sidney, on Shiraz, and Cecil, on Cabernet Sauvignon, and I are all getting ready for a tasting at the beautiful {spasie} and we are thrilled to be there with Stephen Mandez on the 28th April. For more information and bookings please see our events tab

We will be sure to get our lovely human team at Perdeberg to post pictures to the Facebook page.
